Our History

Our founder, Kraig, grew up with important values instilled in him from the beginning. He worked on his family farm in Cropsey, IL where his father taught him honesty, integrity, and a positive work ethic. Kraig started to work half-days for a local plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical company during high school as part of the school’s work program. With plenty of experience already under his belt after he graduated, Kraig went to work with his brother Kerwin at Edelman Electric. In 2003, he purchased the company from Kerwin.

At this point, Edelman Electric was still a small company operating from a shed on the family farm with a handful of employees. Kraig had ideas for how to expand: he had a dream of having a company that practiced the trades of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and solar. In 2010 he purchased Kupferschmid Plumbing, Heating and Cooling of Pontiac, IL, a family business that had taken care of customers across Central Illinois for 50 years. In 2015, the two companies combined from their separate locations into Edelman, Inc. The business has continued to grow, and we recently opened our second shop/training facility in Champaign, IL so we can better serve customers there and in the surrounding areas.
